Despite being for advanced 3D, the extra tools found in Cinema 4D Studio R16 are still designed to beuser-friendly and intuitive. Cinema 4D Studio R16 letsyou unleash your creativity and enjoy 3D without limits. Features Physical Renderer Advanced Camera Tools Team Render (unlimited Nodes) MoGraph Tools Sketch & Toon Dynamics Sculpting Hair System Advanced Character Tools Motion Tracker All Libraries, Advanced presets and demo scenes Newin Cinema 4D Release 18Voronoi FracturingWith the new Fracture Voronoi object you can tear down walls.Systematically shatter any object into procedural fragments using virtuallyanything to control the distribution of the shattered pieces. Create artisticprocedural geometry using splines, polygon objects or particles.
FractureVoronoi is always live which means you can change elements at any time. As anative MoGraph object it works seamlessly with Dynamics and all the effectorsand falloffs you love.Cloner EnhancementsCinema 4D Studio R16 'sCloner object revolutionized motion graphics, and in R18 it's made it evenbetter. With the new Honeycomb Array mode you can easily create brick walls andhexagonal grids. Conform grid arrays and honeycombs to the shape of an objector spline, and maintain the clone spacing when you increase count with Per-Stepmode. There's also a new option to scale clones automatically based on polygonsize when cloning on an object.New knife toolsCinema 4D Release 18 truly is a cut above the rest, with all-newinteractive knife tools.
Here's a short 12 minute mini tutorial on using the 'Disconnect' and 'Split' commands in Cinema 4D. Also demonstrated is the 'Connect' Cinema 4D Disconnect and Split Commands on Vimeo. Cinema 4D Tutorial - Worn Edges Animation - Duration: 35:39. Lance Brown-Ochs 18,431 views.
The new Line Cut tool lets you draw cuts across one oreven multiple objects and tweak them on-the-fly with an interactive preview. You can then lock in new edges, remove parts or split objects based on the cutsyou made. With the new Plane Cut tool you can create new edges using the Local,World or Camera axes, or draw a line to define the plane and adjust theposition and rotation of the cut numerically or with a viewport manipulator. The Loop/Path Cut tool creates symmetrical loops or paths based on aproportional or absolute distance to the surrounding edges, and preservescurvature when creating new edges. All three new tools are available asseparate commands so you can easily access the desired mode via shortcut orCommander.Object TrackerIntegrate your Cinema 4D creations into real-world footage withObject Tracking, the next step in 's effort to make workflows and tools accessible to everyone. Reconstruct themotion of the camera and any number of objects to transform a video file into a3D world. Add 2D user tracks for key features of the object and assign them tothe Object Tracker – then reconstruct the object based on just the tracks orwith the help of reference geometry.
You can now seamlessly integrate anynumber of 3D objects into real-world footage with ease.Shaders & surface effectsNew shaders and shading options offer advanced renderingpossibilities in Cinema 4D Release 18. With the Thin Film shader you canreproduce the iridescent rainbow effects of bubbles and oil slicks, or simplyadd fingerprints and oily residue to any surface.
Inverse Ambient Occlusion canbe used to create masks for worn edges or to imitate subsurface scattering forfaster rendering results. The Shadow Catcher shader offers a convenient way tocapture shadows and ambient occlusion from 3D objects so they can be easilycomposited over real— life footage. It's all about workflowCinema 4D has always offered a fast and intuitive workflow, andRelease 18 offers new tools with approachable and easy-to-learn interfaces.Your window to the 3D world has been given a dramatic facelift with viewportenhancements, including Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Viewport Tessellationfor Displacement preview, and a preview mode for multi-layered Reflectance.

Sorry, I can't think of any wish I had known earlier, because I am still a noob in Unity. There are a few things I can tell you that might be helpful.Unity understands the UV map from C4D.If you set your project up correctly, when you save in c4d it will auto update in unity.Don't forget about scale! Unity physics like to try and be accurate to real world, and a lot of times in C4D one might just use the scale as a reference. If you are making a cannon ball in C4D to use inside of unity, you might want to google the circumference and weight of a cannonball.
I've noticed accurately scaling and sizing models makings all physics behave much more predictable inside Unity. Properly sizing a human will allow you to use actual gravity (-9.8?), and have the human behave how you might expect. Making him huge or tiny will have you guessing numbers all day.
